TNA "iMPACT!" RESULTS FOR THURSDAY, MAY 15, 2008
By: Charles Rice

TNA “iMPACT!” kicked off with a bang as all roads lead to Memphis for the June 8 "Slammiversary" Pay-Per-View

In an interesting way to start the night, the entire roster of TNA was gathered around the ring in anticipation of the reigning TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Samoa Joe, and his big announcement. Joe had the honors of announcing the upcoming King of the Mountain tournament for the upcoming Slammiversary pay-per-view that will take place live in Memphis on Sunday June the 8.

Joe went on to tell the world that he and Jim Cornette had reached an agreement, Cornette would pick the first four participants and the champ would get to pick the last four. With that Joe announced Cornette’s picks of Robert Roode, “Cowboy” James Storm, Tomko, and Matt Morgan. All of which were “charity cases” in “the Samoan Submission Machine’s” eyes. Joe went on to tell the fans at the Impact Zone he would be picking his four participants next week and would be scouting the talent tonight. However, before Joe could finish his announcement, he was interrupted by the Texas native, Booker T. Booker was none too pleased by not being picked by Cornette saying that he too had never had a shot at the TNA Heavyweight Title and he was the most decorated champion of all time. Booker then sent Joe a very clear message that if he didn’t choose him next week there would be repercussions. With that Booker attacked the champ before he could get a full rebuttal in. To no one’s surprise, after what had happened at Sacrifice, both Rhino and Christian Cage came to Joe’s aid. With that Booker challenged the three of them to a match later that night, saying he would find people in the back to be his partners.

Backstage we were told by Kurt that he had a letter he was going to read to his wife, Karen, later that night asking her to come home.

Right before the first match of the night between, “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal, “The Guru” Sonjay Dutt and Kaz vs. The Rock N’ Rave Infection and Johnny Devine, it was obvious Lethal had something big on his mind as he was unable to concentrate on their interview. After a high flying match between all parties involved, we saw Kaz get a three count on Lance Hoyt. Following the match, Jay invited SoCal Val into the ring and asked her to marry him at Slammiversary. No sooner had the words “Ohhhhh Yeaaaaa” escaped her lips, did a look of shock mixed with what appeared to be anger come over the face of Jay’s longtime friend Sonjay Dutt.

The mystery surrounding where Abyss has been for the past several months was finally answered. But in it’s place so many new questions have arisen. TNA fans learned via some very disturbing footage that the monster looks to be in a mental hospital or an asylum of some sort. However, what was Abyss talking about when he said that he had fooled them all with his good behavior? Stay tuned as the mystery surrounding Abyss will hopefully be answered sometime in the near future.

Next, Awesome Kong took on Gail Kim for the TNA Knockout Championship. The hate between these two women seems as if it can’t reach a higher level. Throughout the match it looked as if Kim was going to pick up the win with several near falls. Even when all the other Knockouts had come down to ringside and interfered Kim did not let that derail her. In the end though, when it looked like Kim was going high-flying, Angelina Love pushed her from the top rope, costing her the win by setting her up to get an Awesome Bomb from Kong. After the match Kim seemed to have suffered a knee injury.

Finally, it was time for Kurt to address the Impact Zone, and more importantly his wife, Karen. In what appeared to be a blame game from the former champion, he told Karen that he knew how miserable she must be without him so he wanted her to come home and help nurse him back to help. Kurt told her that he forgave her for her “failures as a wife”. Furthermore, Kurt went on to list his priorities as the TNA Heavyweight Championship, his gold medals, his kids and finally Karen. With that he invited her to the Impact Zone next week. It will be interesting to see if Karen truly does miss Kurt and will come home to him next week or if she decides to stick with her new mystery romance. Only time will tell.

Next up, we see Hector Guerrero and the new TNA Tag Team Champions talking about how they are starting a revolution in TNA. With that the LAX went out and faced the Motor City Machineguns in their first match as the champs. In this non-title bout it looked like the Machineguns came ready and had things going fairly well, until big Hernandez came in off the tag from Homocide. Flying like some of the best stars of the X-Division do, Hernandez picked up the win.

After the match, we saw Booker with Team 3D and he told the fans they would be teaming with him tonight. Brother Devon told everyone they would testify and it was honor to be in the ring with royalty.

A video package is shown of Eric Young and his quest to find Elvis. He is determined to this before the upcoming pay-per-view. Maybe he will because after all Slammiversary is in the home of the King.

In an exclusive interview with Sting, fans are shown a side of Sting rarely seen. He talked about how he broke in to the business and his falling out with one time friend, the Warrior. Stay tuned next week to see more from this interview in part two.

Before their match against Roxxi Laveaux and ODB, both Angelina Love and Velvet Sky, who many know as the “beautiful people” were backstage talking about how disgusting Roxxi is. In a match that showcased Roxxi for the first time with her shaved head, we saw Angelina Love cheat to help Velvet Sky pick up the win over ODB.

In the main event of the night Booker and Team 3D took on Samoa Joe, “The Instant Classic” Christian Cage, and Rhino. This match was more of a brawl than anything and in the end it was Samoa Joe who picked up the pin fall over Brother Devon. Still it did nothing to settle score between himself and Booker. After the match Team 3D beat up Hector Guerrero. Christian Cage and company helped fight them off but the damage was done. Guerrero was a bloody mess. What will happen next week? Will Booker get his wish and if he doesn’t what will he do about it? Stay tuned to find out about this and the health of both Gail Kim and Hector Guerrero.
