AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH TNA SUPERSTAR BOOKER T
By Charles Rice

bookert2.jpg Wherever Booker T has gone, he has had the proverbial Midas touch at his fingertips. No matter the promotion, Booker T has always had a way for garnering championship gold. In a career that has spanned over 18 years, he has been a multi-time World Heavyweight Champion.

Still there is one place that Booker has never held gold, and that is in TNA. Since his November debut, Booker has been on a quest to change that - although he first must deal with Robert Roode.

Debuting at Genesis as Sting's mystery partner, Booker T made TNA his new home. Since then, he has had some epic battles with the young and up and comer Robert Roode and the TNA World Heavy weight Champion Kurt Angle. Truth is, Booker T almost beat Angle a few weeks ago on "iMPACT!" had it not been for an interfering Robert Roode.

I recently sat down with Booker to get his thoughts on a variety of topics from his new home in TNA, Robert Roode, and even the wrestling school that he owns in his home town of Houston, Texas.

TNA: Booker you have been in TNA for a couple months now. What are your thoughts on being there?

Booker: It's a new environment but it's the same in a sense. Wrestling is wrestling. Right now I feel like I'm kind of in a time warp. I'm around a bunch of young guys, but it's great. It's great and it's really given me a chance to go out and expand and see how good I really am. Right now everything is going real good and I am just having a lot of fun.

TNA: How much gas is left in the tank for Booker T in his career?

Booker: You know, I don't know. I am still having great matches and I still feel like there is a whole lot more in Booker T as far my career goes. Mentally and physically - I feel great. As far as my talent goes, I still feel like I am a high quality talent.

TNA: So is there championship gold in TNA in your future?

Booker: As far as gold goes, I never catered to the gold or anything, the gold always came to me. Titles are something that have followed me throughout my career. I never really thought about it as far as being heavyweight champion or TV champion earlier in my career. I think it's all about going out there and putting the work in. As far as titles go if it happens it happens. If it doesn't happen, Booker T's career is still set in stone.

TNA: Right now you have had a feud going on with Robert Roode. What are your feelings on the feud and more specifically on him?

Booker: He is one of those guys that is trying to make a name for himself. You know he is trying to capitalize on the situation of being in the ring with a legend, a living legend. I mean, slaying me would be a big feather in his cap and I'm sure he is thinking about that like a big t-bone steak on a plate that he wants. But I don't think that's going to happen. I don't that Robert Roode is at that caliber or at that stage yet where he can knock off someone like me.

TNA: You're a pretty busy man working and traveling with TNA and running your own wrestling school. Anything you want to share with us about your school down in Houston?

Booker: Well, you know it's all about how far you want to rise in this business. At the end of the day it's all about going out there and doing it right. Right now we have been going for over a year straight. Hopefully there are TNA fans in the area and hopefully they can come by and check out a PWA show, and hopefully I can bring some of the PWA guys into TNA one day. It's all about giving the young guys their platform to go out there and do their thing.

TNA: Thanks Booker, we appreciate your time.

As one can see Booker may be a veteran of ring but his career is far from over, who knows he may even be able to pass that Midas touch on to some of the young and up and comers. Make sure to check out Booker T and his wife Sharmell every week on "iMPACT!" and down at their PWA events in Houston.
